Core Items of Division

The Student Advising Division is guided by the working philosophy of “caring for the whole person, cultivating good character, and providing quality service.” Its service objectives are to “care for the needs of students’ academic and life development, assist in solving life difficulties, cultivate good habits and moral character, and maintain a service-oriented mindset of empathy.” The core businesses include:

  1. Improving the effectiveness of teacher counseling: implementation of the teacher system and counseling competence development.
  2. Implementing holistic care education: affairs related to student character, human rights, civic and legal education, environmental service learning, conduct rewards and punishments, military service, gender equality education and advocacy (including handling student complaints), etc.
  3. Supporting students in need: various types of scholarships, benchmark awards, student loans, assistance for disadvantaged students, fee waivers and reductions, living allowances, tuition fee installment and deferment, and the Dream Fulfillment Assistance Program.
  4. Promoting the start of students’ academic and career journey: new student career experience camp, establishment and maintenance of new student and parent portal.
  5. Advocating for traffic safety: enhancing students’ awareness of traffic safety education, establishing safe and defensive driving concepts, reducing traffic incidents, and maintaining life safety.
  6. Campus safety and prevention counseling: prevention of drug abuse, anti-bullying education, prevention of campus violence education, anti-fraud education, theft prevention advocacy, and counseling for serious deviation behavior, effectively reducing campus safety incidents.
  1. The counseling center aims to enhance counselors’ professional skills and promote students’ physical and mental well-being. By utilizing a sound departmental case management system, integrating resources for at-risk students, and coordinating with interdepartmental personnel, a stronger caring connection is built.

  2. Based on the concept of “everyone is a gatekeeper for suicide prevention”, the knowledge and awareness of suicide prevention among faculty, staff, and students will be enhanced. Together, they will help to implement the three levels of mental health promotion.

  3. With the goal of accommodating the diverse needs of students who face psychological adaptation difficulties, the counseling center assists counselors in maintaining sensitivity to multicultural issues. Furthermore, the counseling center would regularly hold multicultural activities for students and staff.

  1. Administrative guidance, consultation and counseling, property management, venue allocation, budget review, Certification of Holistic Education, and performance evaluation for the seven types of student clubs (Departments Student Association, Service-Oriented clubs, Academic clubs, Social clubs, Recreational clubs, Music clubs, and Sports clubs).
  2. Organize meeting of club leader and strengthen club organizational management.
  3. Appointment of club advisors and professional coaches.
  4. Improve the campus club system, participate in the Ministry of Education’s national college excellent club selection activities, and organize school-wide student autonomous organization achievement competitions and observation activities.
  5. Organize inter-school or school-wide activities for student clubs (New Year flag-raising ceremony, club evaluation and selection of excellent clubs, club fair, Five schools Tournament, PuRenGand Literary Arts Awards, etc.).
  6. Holistic education certification: revise regulations and promote policies.
  7. Management of club activity venues, club equipment borrowing and purchasing management.
  1. Handle the establishment of professional service-learning courses in various departments, outstanding service-learning teachers, outstanding courses, research achievement awards, and teacher training activities (such as micro-workshops and workshops for teachers).
  2. Organize service-learning seminars, holistic care award competitions, and other research and competition activities.
  3. Administer service-learning activity project subsidies to encourage teachers and students to form teams and participate in domestic and international service activities.
  4. Organize service-learning promotion lectures and activities, recruit, train, and mentor students in implementing domestic and international service-learning projects, and host achievement presentations.
  5. Implement the high school partnership program, assisting high schools and vocational schools in organizing service-learning promotion lectures, activities, or mentoring service-learning clubs.
  6. Undertake the Youth Volunteer Center of the Youth Development Administration of the Ministry of Education, serving as a regional volunteer service resource platform.
  1. Health promotion: formulate health policies, implement the health promotion plan of the Ministry of Education, and serve as a model school for the topic, handle various group health education activities and follow-up management of health micro-illnesses.
  2. Student physical examination: handle student physical examination and relevant consultations.
  3. Epidemic prevention and control: cooperate with national epidemic prevention policies and establish standard operating process for infectious disease prevention.
  4. Injury treatment: provide injury assessment, treatment, referral, medical evacuation if necessary, emergency rescue and on-campus outpatients services.
  5. Management of food hygiene: daily on-campus stall food sample storage, ingredient registration and occasional restaurant audit.
  6. Administrative business: assist student group insurance and emergency aid grants application.

We meet with each student to develop an Individualized Support Plan (ISP) at the beginning of each semester to make sure they have full access to a fulfilling college experience and achieve academic success. We provide the following services at ISP:

  •  Support for learning, such as testing accommodations, academic tutoring, etc.
  •  Transitional services, including those provided to first-year students and those nearing graduation.
  • On-campus consultation services are available to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Disability management, including things like classroom equipment and assistive technology.
  • Campus life support: We provide a range of extracurricular activities and recreational pursuits to enrich students’ lives and also provide them with the information they need.
  1. Assist Internation and Mainland students with group medical insurance, national health insurance card, work permit, and other living service applications. Economically, assist students in paying for tuition and fees in installments, and provide work-study opportunities for financially needy overseas students, allowing them to study with peace of mind.
  2. Organize new student orientation and welcome events, and provide physical and mental counseling and referral services to help students with their daily needs. Hold caring activities before mid-term exams, so that students can always feel warmth and care while studying at school.
  3. Implement academic guardian mode, select outstanding students as academic guardian angels, and promote peer learning to help overseas students master correct learning methods and improve their learning effectiveness. As the educational content and language used in various countries differ from Taiwan, overseas students can choose to attend specialized classes.
  4. Take students to Taiwan and other places as a club to participate in volunteer services such as beach cleaning and stream protection to love the environment. Also, cooperate with foundations that assist underprivileged families to provide English tutoring for elementary school children, allowing them to learn about different cultures and practice English.
  5.  Assist four International student associations organizing cultural week, cultural trips, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, Christmas, and other cultural experience activities to allow students to understand various Taiwanese cultures and help them integrate into the community.

1.In order to maintain the safety of students living in leasing, instructors of each department would conduct monthly leasing care visits to ensure the rights and interests of students and to implement safety assessments of off-campus leasing structures to improve the overall leasing safety environment.

2.Every semester, the university holds off-campus leasing safety promotion and seminars for leasing students and landlords to enhance students’ concepts of leasing safety, protect their legal rights and interests, and reduce the occurrence of leasing disputes.

3. Our campus dormitories are divided into five main buildings, including Li-Shin dormitory. En-Tsu Dormitory, Lian-Shan Dormitory, Hsin-Shih Dormitory, Ren-Cheng Dormitory.At the beginning of the academic year, dormitory counselors will guide the dormitory committee through the process of moving in students with the introduction of dormitory facilities, rules, and regulations. Disaster prevention drills will be conducted at the beginning of the semester as well. In order to create a quality residential environment and improve the quality of residential life, the residential team and dormitory counselors, along with the student committee, hold joint service seminars. For Christmas Days, Chinese New Year, and related festivals, together with midterm and final weeks, the dormitory holds activities to create a festival atmosphere and provides residential care.

4. Each dormitory has a dedicated counselor who is responsible for dormitory management, life counseling, activities, maintenance and repair of facilities, and convening of committee meetings.

5. The dormitory organizes the dormitory student committee to actively participate in helping others by collecting second-hand goods from hostel students for charity sales and supporting the Samaritan Fund with the proceeds. We also organize street sweeping around the campus and participate in beach cleaning activities in the nearby waters to raise environmental awareness.

  1. Regarding to the transition of military training instructors into school security officers and staff of student’s affair, a secondary campus safety unit has established, and dedicated related resources to the office.
  2. Provide students with life guidance and referral consultations, as well as general life education, to help them adapt to campus life.
  3. Offer 24-hour emergency contact for students, handling urgent and special incidents to maintain campus safety.
  4. Promote and integrate campus safety-related initiatives, such as drug abuse prevention, anti-bullying education, violence prevention, traffic safety education, anti-fraud education, gender equality promotion, theft prevention, and support for students exhibiting severely deviant behavior, to ensure student safety in daily life.
